Two Films produced by the Post-Graduate Course in Cinema and Audiovisuals at ESAP in Figueira da Foz selected for the competition of the 25th AVANCA Film Festival

Two films produced within the scope of the Postgraduate Course in Cinema and Audiovisuals at ESAP - Escola Superior Artística do Porto, have just been selected to be part of the competitions of the 25th AVANCA - International Meetings of Cinema, Television, Video and Multimedia that will take place at the later this month.

The film “Phantoms of the Quarantine” is a documentary work directed during the pandemic and divided into three parts (“two windows”, “the Sundays that never end”, “trousseau”), having been directed by Carolina d'Antas Ferrão, Luís Filipe Dias and Joana Carregado.

Started as an exercise in the discipline of “making documentary”, the work became autonomous and had the participation of other curricular units of the course. This film is part of the Avanca Competition.

In the Video category, the work “Oasís” by Ana Carolina Ferrão, João Duarte, Pedro Milheirão was selected. A film shot during late afternoons and evenings on the beach at Figueira da Foz.

This year, the AVANCA Film Festival celebrates its 25th edition, taking place between Estarreja and Ovar, in several movie theaters. Seeking to overcome the conditions of the current pandemic, the festival began last year and in a pioneering way, the exhibition in Drive In. This year, part of the competitions will happen again with the presence of cars.

The 25th edition of the AVANCA Film Festival also has the presence of postgraduate students in Cinema and Audiovisual, from the academic year 2020/2021, to carry out an exercise in the discipline “editing and post-production”.

The Post-Graduation in Cinema and Audiovisuals, conferred by ESAP – Superior Artistic School of Porto, takes place at the Centro de Artes e Espectáculos da Figueira da Foz.

The Postgraduate Course in Cinema and Audiovisuals is open to graduates, but also to holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the ESAP Scientific Council, attesting to the capacity to attend Postgraduate Studies. This Post-Graduate course grants 60 ECTS credits, allowing students to proceed to the next academic degree, namely the Master's Degree in Film and Television, also at ESAP.

The partnership that brings together Município da Figueira da Foz, Centro Portugal Film Commission and ESAP – Escola Superior Artística do Porto, contributes to reinforcing a new approach to cinema and audiovisual in the region.
