SATH | Secção Autónoma de Teoria e História

A Secção Autónoma de Teria e História é uma estrutura académica de coordenação das áreas científicas de Teoria e Crítica de Arte, Teoria e Crítica de Arquitetura, Teoria e Crítica de Teatro, História da Arte, História da Arquitetura e Ciências Sociais e das respectivas unidades curriculares, que desenvolve uma articulação científico-pedagógica próxima com os cursos que a integram.
Entre outras competências, cabe à SATH organizar e desenvolver a investigação nas suas áreas científicas, fomentando grupos e projectos de investigação, para além da investigação a título individual, bem como apoiar as actividades e iniciativas do corpo docente e de investigadores no campo da investigação.
Atualmente, a SATH partilha com os restantes Departamentos da ESAP, uma política de investigação que passa por dois tipos de acções:
1. O incentivo à constituição de equipas de investigação lideradas por docentes da SATH, através do financiamento de projectos coletivos de investigação, de curta duração, isto é de Projetos ESAP.
2. A sensibilização dos alunos para a investigação, através da oferta de Estágios Creditados de Investigação (ECI) realizados no âmbito dos projectos em curso.
Actualmente decorrem três projetos de investigação na SATH, um dos quais relacionado com a Licenciatura em Artes Plásticas e Intermédia:

DAV | Department of Visual Arts

The Department of Visual Arts is an academic structure coordinating the scientific areas of Design, Photography, Printing, Plastic Arts, Design, Information and Communication Technologies, Multimedia and its respective curricular units, which develops a close scientific-pedagogical articulation with the courses that integrate it.
Among other competences, it is the responsibility of the DAV to organize and develop research in its scientific areas, by promoting research groups and projects, in addition to individual research, as well as supporting the activities and initiatives of faculty and researchers in the field of research.
DAV shares with the other departments of the ESAP a research policy that includes the encouragement of the formation of research teams led by DAV professors through the funding of short-term collective research projects, namely ESAP projects.
The provision of Research Creation Internships (ECI) in the context of projects underway in the Department is also intended to contribute to the initiation or reinforcement of the scientific initiation of ESAP students.

Arnaldo Araújo Research Center (CEAA) of the Escola Superior Artística do Porto is a research unit recognized by FCT (uID 4041) that develops research in the area of Artistic Studies, concretely in the territories of Theory, Criticism and History.
At present, CEAA is organized into three research groups and one research line

The Group of Art and Critical Studies, in which the investigation associated with the visual arts is mainly inserted, is directed by Eduarda Neves and conducts research in three major thematic areas, linked to Contemporary Art:
1. Europe;
2. Film in Contemporary Art;
3. South-South Trajactories;
