The Department of Theater and Cinema (DTC) is an academic structure coordinating the scientific areas of Cinema and Audiovisual (CAV), Communication (COM), Dramaturgy (DRT) and Theater (TEA) and respective curricular units. In terms of operation, this Department is structured in two sections: (1) Theater and (2) Cinema.

The final year students will show 27 playlets from Bertold Brech’s Fear and Misery in the 3rd Reich at the Carlos Alberto Theatre, 28th and 29th July, 7 pm. These playlets are directed by Prof. Roberto Merino.

Luís Diogo's A SUBLIME LIFE, which studied at ESAP, opened last Thursday, January 24, in theaters. A SUBLIME LIFE, with 34 prizes, is the most awarded film in Portuguese cinema.

UMA VIDA SUBLIME, by Luís Diogo and produced jointly with António Costa Valente, premiered today in theaters in Russia. After the previews in Moscow and St. Petersburg, with crowded rooms and heavily-attended sessions, it is now time for the film to travel through several Russian cities. Luís Diogo studied cinema at ESAP and António Costa Valente is a teacher and director of the Theater and Cinema Department at ESAP.
